A new name to Aspire to

Outward Bound has a new name for our 8 day course for people who have a physical disability.  The new name Aspire replaces the former name Starlight and better reflects the course objectives.  Aspire is about achieving more than you thought possible and we hope this new name will inspire people who always wanted to do an Outward Bound course but because of injury, illness or impairment thought they never could.

Perhaps you are carrying an old rugby injury, you hurt your back falling off a ladder or you had a joint replacement.  Now you find it difficult to run long distances, easily walk on steep terrain or carry a heavy tramping pack.  The Aspire course may be just the trick to get you back in the outdoors and have an adventure.

Aspire is just like any other Outward Bound course with activities like kayaking, sailing, high ropes and solo.  Although some activities are modified to be low impact, this is no holiday camp.  Participants will get outside their comfort zone and push themselves further than ever before.  Tammy, who attended this year’s course, said: "You get to see how far you can go when pushed to your limits.  You come away with a new outlook on life."

Outward Bound invites people who are independent, active and seeking adventure to enrol on the next Aspire course: Saturday 13 February - Saturday 20 February 2010
