A donation is the most important way you can support our work. we are a charitable trust and we rely on the support of the community. Outward Bound can have a major positive effect on individuals. Your donation ensures our work at Outward Bound continues. When you make a donation you help towards our vision of 'Better People, Better Communities, Better World'. Here is more information about supporting Outward Bound. You can also call us on 0800 688 927 (0800 OUTWARD) or (04) 472 3440 or email fundraising if you are interested in making a donation.
Keep training! It's easier to keep up your fitness rather than having to rebuild it. Try to work some exercise into your daily routine and keep doing it. If you're having trouble with motivation, try a local sports club or find a training buddy. Sports and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) provide useful information about sports bodies in New Zealand. The National Sports link has the national office of most sports organisations.
You spent time on the course talking about goals and setting targets for your life. Now it's up to you to do them. Remember, other people can help you meet your goals (either with support or practical help). If you're finding your targets too hard to reach, try breaking them down into smaller steps to work towards the bigger goal. Setting deadlines can be helpful for motivating yourself. Stick to the deadlines you set, and every success will motivate you onto the next one. Checking to see if your goal is realistic is important. Sometimes we need to re-evaluate our goals. Just make sure you're not going easy on yourself! You can share your successes with other alumni by sending your words of encouragement for others to Outward Bound.
As well as completing your own goals, you could get involved in the Young New Zealanders' Challenge (you might know this as The Duke of Edinburgh Awards in NZ). Visit their website for more information. www.challengenz.org.nz
Once a course has finished it is difficult to contact the instructors. Because they're often away from the school, instructors can rarely be reached by phone. Send emails to the school using the address email@example.com. Put your instructor's name in the subject line and these will be passed on.
