School Leaders

January 2011

The School Leaders programme is the 21 day Outward Bound experience for current Year 12 students who will be in a school leadership role in 2011.

Throughout three weeks of challenging experiences such as sailing, kayaking, tramping, rock climbing and community service, you will:

  • Learn about yourself through both success and failure
  • Understand your values and how they guide personal decisions and affect others
  • Have opportunities to develop your leadership skills and gain public speaking experience
  • Learn ways to effectively influence others and be a successful role model
  • Create life long friendships and networks with other young leaders from schools across New Zealand

"I've learned more in three weeks than I've ever learned in my life. I've learned about being a person and being a leader - how to convince people who don't agree with my values to be part of my group."
- Scott Walsh, course participant
