Travel

All courses start and finish at the Interislander Ferry Terminal in Picton. This is serviced by ferry, bus, train and plane. The nearest airports are Blenheim or Picton and we can provide you with details on how to be transferred to the Ferry Terminal - it is very easy. Participants are responsible for their own travel. When you are enrolled we will send you more information or you can open the information below.

Gear and clothing

Outward Bound will provide you with all specialist gear required for your course (this includes tents, sleeping bags, tramping packs, sleeping mats, lifejackets and helmets). Once you enrol we will send you a comprehensive list of all the gear you need to bring to your course or you can open the list below.

Items such as mobile phones and music devices may be brought with you as you travel, but we will store them securely while you are on your course.

How fit do I need to be?

Courses involve physical challenge. The fitter you are, the easier you will find some of the activities. You need to be able to particpate in a full day's physical activity and be able to run or fast walk three kilometres in 25 minutes. There will be water activities, so you need to be comfortable in water, but lifejackets will be always be available.

Courses for those with disabilities and some custom design courses have different fitness requirements.
