International

If you are NOT a New Zealand, Pacific Island or Australian citizen, OR a New Zealand resident (citizenship and residency are two different things), then you are generally deemed to be an international student under the New Zealand Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. A full definition of a domestic (i.e not an international) student can be found here.

You need to have a medium to good grasp of English to understand instructions and therefore ensure your own, and others safety on the course.

To enrol, you must provide, eight weeks prior to your course start the following:

  • A completed international enrolment form

  • A photocopy of the first two pages of your passport containing your photo and personal details including passport number, expiry date and place of birth

  • Details about your visa or permit prior to attending a course if you are required to have this on entry to New Zealand

  • Details of your travel and medical insurance prior to attending a course. You may be liable for medical costs in case of an accident.

Once you are enrolled you will need to provide the following eight weeks prior to your course start:

There is an additional charge for international students of $860NZD for 21 day courses and $360NZD for 8 day courses. From January 2012 this charge will rise to $370NZD for 8 day courses and $880NZD for 21 day courses. Our advertised rates are subsidised and Outward Bound (a non-profit organisation) sources funding for the shortfall of this rate for all New Zealand citizens/residents. Unfortunately we cannot offer this subsidy to international students. These fees do not apply to New Zealand, Australian and Pacific Island residents.
