Course Terms & Conditions
Please read the following Terms and Conditions.
- Course dates and prices are subject to change without notice.
- Outward Bound makes no guarantee as to the availability of places on a course prior to booking.
- Bookings on a course can only be confirmed upon receipt of an appropriate deposit. The deposit is transferable to one other course 21 days prior to the course start date but is not refundable. Business enrolments are not transferable or refundable.
- If you enrolled prior to 1st July 2007 and need to transfer to another course, you will still retain the original course fee as invoiced, but only until course 522 commencing June 2008. Should you wish to change your course more than once for reasons other than medical or behavioural (at our discretion) you will be charged the cost of another deposit which is $300; in addition to the course fees already paid.
- Final acceptance onto a course relies upon completion of the appropriate enrolment form and medical form and is at the discretion of the Outward Bound Trust of NZ.
- Full payment of the balance of the course fee is required eight weeks before the start date of the booked course (six weeks for business clients).
- As with many other New Zealand educational institutions, international participants are charged a premium in addition to the fees listed above. This adjusts for subsidies paid by New Zealand funders for which international participants are that are not eligible. The additional charge for international participants is $850NZD for 21 day courses and $350NZD for 8 day courses. These fees do not apply to New Zealand, Australian and Pacific Island residents.
- Participants who leave during a course are not entitled to a refund or another course.
- Participants who do not adhere to the course conditions while on the programme may be asked to leave the course.
- Participants who do not meet the fitness criteria (able to run 3km in under 25 minutes) may be asked to leave the course.
- Participants who depart a course early are not entitled to a refund or another course.
- If you are only waitlisted on a course and not booked or waitlisted on any other courses, and you are offered a place on that course, with 21 or more days before the course starts, and you decline the place, your deposit will not be refunded. If you are offered a place within 21 days prior to the course commencing, and you decline the place your deposit will be transferred to another course or refunded.
Student Fee Protection Scheme.
Outward Bound has in place an New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) approved Student Fee Protection scheme under which Outward Bound is obliged to refund fees in respect of courses students have not yet completed and are unable to do so due to, voluntary closure of Outward Bound, voluntary withdrawal of the course by Outward Bound, regulatory closure of Outward Bound and or insolvency of Outward Bound. However it does not include situations where a student voluntarily withdraws or is required by Outward Bound to withdraw from any course for reasons such as but not limited to, illness, injury, change of circumstances of the student or situations where a student is expelled from a course for inappropriate behaviour.
