Natalie:
I had so much fun at Outward Bound doing the activities, and learning that even though I’ve lost my sight I can do it. With the support of Instructors and Watchmates, they helped me overcome my fears and helped me to get my Confidence back!!
Our Watch was COOK and there were 12 of us from around NZ who were over 18 and different sight conditions.
I got scared on the high ropes course and that’s where the support was great. I got to swim with jellyfish (great tactile experience) and see dolphins in real life. Solo was cool, Kayak surfing too and can’t forget the PT and the misery sticks (rowing) when the wind stopped while we were sailing.
We were part of the concert; we turned the lights off and then carried on and finished with the song I can see clearly now the rain has gone.
I like the paving stone that says “You only fail when you fail to try”
Kiran:
“Although I have a visual impairment, I can achieve a lot and often the same amount as sighted people, given support. I now have greater confidence to begin and accomplish activities that I would otherwise have put off.”
Ben:
“I really appreciate the opportunity of attending this awesome course. I thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and feel that I have gained great attributes from this course, particularly more confidence, friendship, ability to do some very challenging activities.”
