When Julie Wen (Blake) signed up for a five-day leadership course at Outward Bound, she expected a physical and mental challenge. What she didn’t expect was how deeply it would connect her to herself and others.

At Outward Bound, we believe the outdoors is for everyone. We’re part of a global crew: 37 Outward Bound schools across the world from Asia to Europe to the Americas, all connected by one goal - pushing limits and discovering what we’re capable of.

An important part of an Outward Bound experience is being fully present and connecting with the people around you and the nature that surrounds you and to do that, we ask students to hand over their devices so they can live in the moment.

Sue Richards realised that she wanted more from life – not just things to fill it with, but things with more meaning. In November 2022, Sue stumbled upon an Outward Bound Facebook post and quickly found herself booking a spot on Discovery Low Impact.
