Leadership Update from Outward Bound New Zealand
After five remarkable years of service, leadership and heart, we share that Malindi MacLean will be stepping down as Chief Executive of Outward Bound New Zealand in March 2026.
Malindi has led Outward Bound through a period of significant transformation, guiding the organisation through the challenges of the pandemic, championing inclusion and accessibility and embedding a renewed vision for how Outward Bound can continue to shape the future leaders of Aotearoa.
Under her stewardship, Outward Bound has not only grown stronger as an organisation but has deepened its impact, reaching more young people, evolving its courses to be more inclusive and strengthening the connection between personal growth and collective purpose.
True to her character, Malindi has chosen to stay on until March to see through our strategic projects and ensure the team is set up for ongoing success. Malindi’s leadership has always been grounded in care, courage and conviction - values that have inspired those around her and will continue to shape Outward Bound for years to come.
As we prepare for this next chapter, the Board will commence the process of finding our next Chief Executive and will share an update in due course.
For now, we offer our heartfelt thanks to Malindi, for her vision and her unwavering belief in the power of Outward Bound to change lives.
