Community Partners
OPEN THE DOOR TO OUTWARD BOUND
You know your people. We know what 5-21 days in New Zealand's outdoors can change. Together, we can put an Outward Bound course within reach of the people you work with.
Some people need a door opened. Others have spent years holding it open for everyone else. Our community partners include organisations supporting people facing real barriers, and organisations whose volunteers already give so much to others. We want to work alongside you to help them thrive. You choose who's ready. We provide the course, the instructors and part of the funding, thanks to our donors.
Who we partner with
If your people would thrive with a challenge, we'd love to talk. These are some examples of the types of organisations we partner with.
Rangatahi finding their feet, ready to back themselves.
People grounded in te ao Māori, ready to stretch and grow.
People making Aotearoa home, ready to find their place.
People rebuilding after a tough stretch, ready for a challenge on their terms.
Volunteers who keep others safe, ready for something just for them.
People who give back to their communities, ready to grow as leaders.
What partnership includes
Many opportunities to back the people you believe in and see what they're capable of. To help you do that, we'll offer:
Part-funded places on our Teen, Adult and Adapted courses for the people you refer. They pay a portion of the course fee - we'll provide a scholarship* - covered by Outward Bound donors for the rest.
A dedicated contact on our scholarships team who knows your organisation, and gets to know your people by name.
We'll share how your people have grown from before to after their course, plus results from our post-course evaluation survey to use in your own reporting.
*Funded places and scholarships don't cover travel to and from Picton or any medical expenses.
How it works
Tell us about your organisation and the people you'd like to back. We'll share what's possible.
Together we confirm which courses suit your people and how funding will work.
Share scholarship opportunities with your people. We check in with you to confirm each person before setting them up.
Your people head to Anakiwa. Afterwards, they share what changed for them.
What we ask of you
Good partnerships go both ways. Here's what makes ours work.
Send your people. If someone comes to mind who'd show up, give it a go and get something out of it, they're probably the right person.
Keep us in the loop. Courses fill up, so a quick reply from you helps us secure the scholarship/s for the right course.
Back them in the lead-up. Nerves are normal. A familiar voice encouraging them makes a real difference.
Spread the word. Share the opportunity with your people and across your community.
Let's talk about a partnership
